James Beard Foundation Shows Love to Birmingham’s Frank Stitt (Again)

Anyone who’s ever worked with Frank Stitt—or simply eaten one of his culinary creations—knows that he’s one of the best chefs in the country, if not the world.

So when it was announced today that Stitt’s Highlands Bar and Grill was nominated for the James Beard Foundation Award for Most Outstanding Restaurant in America for a fifth straight year, we were far from surprised.

Stitt is certainly no stranger to the James Beard Awards. He was named Best Chef in the Southeast in 2001, and he was inducted into the James Beard Foundation’s Who’s Who of Food and Beverage in America in 2011.

If history is any indicator, Stitt’s odds of winning are as good as ever. Last year’s winner, Boulevard (of San Francisco), had previously been nominated for Most Outstanding Restaurant seven years straight before finally winning in its eighth year.

We’ve worked with Stitt on projects for a number of clients, including the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau and Alabama Gulf Seafood. So, needless to say, we’ll be cheering for him when the winners are revealed on May 6 at the Lincoln Center in New York City.
