Making of Elf
Creating the 2009 Find Your Elf Campaign for Colonial Brookwood Village was no small task considering the amount of special effects needed to bring John Montgomery’s antique elf to life.
First we had to get the actor in position and shoot his movements to get the body/frame in place.
The white dots are more than a fashion statement – they help Brian (aka art director of the year) pinpoint the exact places to line up the elf nose and ears in post production.
Next to ensure the elf head has the exact same lighting as the body/model, we then shoot the elf head on green screen in the exact spot.
After that it’s simple – Brian spends countless hours on his computer in post production lining up the 1.5″ tall elf head for multiple shopping scenes. Tada!
