Wrapping up the Year with the Best Ads: Part 2

The second edition of our recap on the Wall Street Journal article of the Best Ads of 2009 features two social media advertisements that deserve just a little more attention before year end.

With the idea of wanting a Whopper more than your friends, Burger King’s Facebook app awarded loyal Whopper-fans with a free Whopper when they de-friended 10 friends. Facebook operators took a stance though when 233,906 friends were sacrificed and asked that the app be taken down. But this Whopper of a message 32 million news articles or media mentions.
sitorsquat app Charmin’s Sit or Squat App

This iPhone or Blackberry application used GPS technology tp pinpoint the cleanest restrooms. People can sumbit rating and photos of the good and the bad all in an effort to keep clean. It has been downloaded 530,000 times and received 500 mentions on media outlets throughout the world.
