Cask + Drum: The Big Com Playlist

The 2014 Cask + Drum Festival is almost upon us.

This Saturday, Birmingham’s Lakeview District will host the biggest party of the year. Two stages will play host to eleven excellent bands, including Girl Talk, Drive-By Truckers, and Lucero. ArtWalk Agenda: Your Guide to the Perfect Weekend In Our Neck Of The Woods

The Loft District is a center for arts & culture in Birmingham 365 days a year, but this weekend, there’s something extra special going on. Outside our window today, the downtown Loft District is shaping into a huge, temporary art gallery for the 13th Annual Birmingham ArtWalk.

In the past two years more than 100,000 people have roamed the streets of the festival, and while there is plenty to see from the art to the music stages, we think one of the best features is the setting itself.

Southern Foodways Alliance Announces Food Media South in Birmingham

Birminghamians love to rave about our culinary prowess. (And, as often as we can, take advantage of it.)

But people from all over the South—nay, the country—come to Birmingham for the food scene too. And while they’re here, we like to teach them a few lessons in Southern cookin’. Other than perhaps Oxford, Miss., you’d be hard-pressed to find a city with more food passion per square mile.

If you’ve followed Big at all in the last several years, you know that the Alabama Gulf Seafood campaign is one of our greatest points of pride. It’s a brand that we bore and raised from its inception, and it’s one that’s shined an ever-brighter spotlight on the amazing Gulf seafood industry of our state.

Ad Age Highlights Big’s Go Build Campaign, New E-Textbook Launches in iBooks Store

One of our most extensive campaigns over the past few years here at Big has been Go Build, a branded effort for the Alabama Construction Recruitment Institute to educate middle and high school students on the benefits of a career in construction.

It appears as if students aren’t the only ones listening.

Yesterday, Ad Age published a feature on nationwide efforts to target potential young tradesmen, including a mention of original Go Build spokesperson Mike Rowe.
