The company received the gold ADDY award in the category of Regional/National campaign for their Rickey Smiley Reunion Radio campaign for the Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau. As a fun approach to recruiting family reunions to Birmingham, Big worked with local comedian and BET star Smiley to record some improvisational comedy as his character Bernice Jenkins. Copy writer Karen Swann then edited the improv into 60 second spots to run on a syndicated Sunday morning radio show. Big also won gold for creative work done for last year’s ADDY awards gala.
Big’s Visit the ‘Ham TV campaign for the Greater Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau took home silver as did the newly created “Do Your Share for Cleaner Air” TV spots created for the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham. Big’s sales kit designed for A Social Affair Catering and the agency’s own holiday greeting cards also won silver. Big took home its fifth silver in the category of non-traditional advertising for its Voodoo Doll Media Drops, which were hand-made by the employees of Big to drive newsroom awareness of the Halloween attraction Atrox Factory.
“We enjoy having great partnerships with our clients that result in campaigns and initiatives that not only win awards but also get results,” said Big President John Montgomery. “Our clients deserve these awards as much as we do for letting us push the envelope and create work that gets attention.”
