Satina Richardson, senior account executive at Big Communications, was named Ad Woman of the Year at the Birmingham Advertising Federation’s annual Peak Award dinner Tuesday night. Richardson is the first black woman to win in the category. Richardson also won Account Executive of the Year.
The Advertising Federation’s Peak Awards recognize media professionals and professional service people who strategize, produce, print, buy and sell advertising in the Birmingham market. Ad Man of the Year and Ad Woman of the Year are the top awards given.
Big Communications was named Agency of the Year in 2006, and two members of its staff won Account Executive of the Year and Media Director of the Year. President John Montgomery said his account service team is the best it has been since the company’s inception in 1995, and he said he was thrilled to see another member of his team honored by their peers.
“Satina is extremely talented when it comes to new business proposals and has brought in $1 million worth of business to our agency. When it comes to the business side of advertising, she is absolutely the perfect candidate for Ad Woman of the Year.”
Montgomery said Richardson’s win is indicative of the fact that there has been an increase in minority involvement in Birmingham’s advertising community both in terms of minority-owned firms and minority leadership. He said Big is proud to be a part of this trend with Richardson’s company leadership.
