The intern turns red…

anna-in-red2Hey Everyone,  My name is Anna Kaye, I am “the intern” here at Big. I am a senior, Journalism Major at Samford and I’m from Nashville, TN. I am a first time blogger so please bear with me.

I have been working with Big for about a month now, and after trying to navigate through downtown with my trusty GPS and carrying boxes from fedex that weigh more than I do, I must say the agency aspect of PR is much different from my previous non profit experience.

Along with taking 16 hours worth of courses and working at Big, I also do some communication work with American Heart Association. For those of you who don’t know today is National Wear Red Day. We wear red to honor all the women who are fighting cardiovascular disease – the No. 1 killer of women.

This cause is very important to me on a personal level because my mother had to undergo heart surgery to fix a hole in her heart this past september. This morning, while helping recruit other women for the cause, I somehow fell to the peer pressure and agreed to pay $10 (that’s $1,000 in college money) to have a temporary red streak put in my hair.

I have never even had the nerve to add highlights. And I thought it would look strange. But I’m actually loving the rocker chick in me.

Well that’s about all I have to say here, until next time :)
