Big is looking for a highly motivated, detail oriented, extremely organized, and self-driven IT Manager. The IT Manager reports to the Talent and Culture Lead

Primary Responsibilities


Hands-On Responsibilities

  • Analyzing and improving our IT systems and infrastructure
  • Working to keep Big’s IT systems secure, efficient, fast and strong
  • Analyzing and determining security threats
  • Diagnosing IT problems in our everyday work environment (printers, computers, computer equipment, etc.)
  • Desktop support for employees and clients when they are in the building
  • Training employees on any new IT systems, computer software, etc.
  • Testing, troubleshooting and modifying information systems so that they are always working effectively. Preventing problems from ever occurring — we know, things happen… but you get what we are saying
  • Maintain serialized inventory of equipment and software
  • Selecting and facilitating purchase of new hardware and software as necessary

Management Responsibilities

  • Proactively seeing issues before they become a problem
  • Solving issues and problems with our third-party IT support
  • Understanding server functions, access, patching, and having other knowledge surrounding cloud server use, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Working directly with our third party vendors for IT support
  • Overseeing the IT budget and ensuring cost efficiency — working directly with the Director of Finance and Talent and Culture Lead in regard to spending, budgeting, etc.
  • Coordinating technology installations, upgrades, and maintenance — working with our third party IT support
  • Overseeing all IT licenses, subscriptions and leases (software subscriptions, hardware leases, etc.)
  • Generating performance reports of all IT operating systems for a monthly report to the Talent and Culture Lead
  • Preparing for any technology risks, and maintain a network disaster recovery plan and back-up procedures
  • Remaining up-to-date on new hardware and software that can help our team be progressive and extremely effective
  • Planning IT projects, managing the process, and implementing new systems when needed

The Perfect Fit

  • Knows IT systems in-and-out
  • Has experience of 3+ years working in the IT field
  • Works with Macs and Microsoft based computers, but familiar with a fully Apple/Mac environment
  • Has exceptional written and verbal communication skills — knows how to write the perfect short email and the perfect long email
  • Understands the gravity of informational systems going down, being out, and how this effects a company — for every minute we are down we are losing money
  • Has worked with local and cloud servers in a creative or corporate environment
  • Loves his or her work. Is excited to get up every day and work in IT
  • Wants to work in a scrappy creative world with quirky co-workers making a difference and producing kick-ass work
