Spring has officially sprung, and with it comes a crop of new interns!

First, let me introduce myself. My name is Ashby Brown, and I am the content intern here at Big. My work at Big includes gathering data to help the team with daily content tasks, working with the content team on clients’ social media platforms, and I even get to see the behind-the-scenes action of the creation of social strategy.

Big is one of the most amazing places to work, in my opinion. The people here constantly pour into you, your work is always taken seriously, and there just so happens to be Lucky Charms and other assorted snacks in the kitchen.

Needless to say, I am overjoyed to be one of the five interns lucky enough to get a gig at Big this semester. We are hard at work not only helping out but learning about anything and everything they are willing to teach us.

While a typical internship may be seen as “being the coffee kid,” here at Big it is much, much more. Big creates an environment where we don’t grab coffee or make copies—we actually get to work. We are immediately brought into the family and taught how to be better strategic thinkers, coworkers, and doers. It’s safe to say we have some pretty strong #bigcomluv.

Read on to meet our spring 2018 “Big-terns”!

What is one fun fact about you?
This past summer I studied abroad in Spain about 45 miles away from Madrid.

What is your favorite Netflix show to binge-watch?
I love to watch The Office. Even though I have watched the show all the way through twice, it never gets old!

What do you love most about your position here at Big?
I love the people I work with! They have been more than just co-workers, but encouragers and teachers, and they have helped me learn more than they know!

What is the most valuable thing you have learned during your time at Big?
I have learned that work won’t always be relaxed. Many days we will be working on something to find out a different client needs something posted ASAP and we have to stop and post that! Each day is different, and I think that’s one thing I love about my internship.

What I love about account management is that there is always something to do and there is a lot of variety in my day-to-day.

What is the most valuable thing you have learned during your time at Big?
The most valuable thing I’ve learned at Big is time management. I’ve learned how to manage a bunch of projects at once and how to become a pro at multitasking. Big has taught me how to prioritize my jobs in order to keep accounts happy and ensure that the agency has a manageable workflow.

Obviously The Office; it’s a classic.

What do you love most about your position here at Big?
Even though I have only worked here a few short weeks, I have been able to get my hands on all types of clients and do all sorts of projects. You couldn’t do what I’m doing and learn the things I’ve learned in this small amount of time anywhere else.

What is the most valuable thing you have learned during your time at Big?
The most valuable thing I’ve learned here is work isn’t just work; you don’t just come in in the morning, do what you need to do, and leave. Everyone here cares about you and wants you to do well. To do good work, you have to have good people, and Big just does it better.

RILEY RHOTON

What is one fun fact about you?

My high school football team made the highlight reel for Monday Night Football. After we completed a two point conversion, a lineman went to chest bump our coach, and in the process knocked the coach off his feet and onto his back. For the next week, the team was keeping track of our ESPN and Bleacher Report story rankings, and we even cracked the top 5 on both.

What is your favorite Netflix show to binge-watch?
I love to binge-watch Rick and Morty. The writers are constantly thinking outside the box, often creating completely original characters. I notice something new every time I watch an episode.

What do you love most about your position here at Big?
I love being able to work around the office with the different departments. I have logged invoices, helped with photoshoots, and bought media ad space. Being versatile makes working at Big fun.

What is the most valuable thing you have learned during your time at Big?
I have learned that it’s important to stay on top of your work because others are relying on you. It takes a village to run an organization. and it is important that everyone is on board, including interns.
